The Non-DOT Urine Collector Training Course provides practical, professional instruction for individuals responsible for workplace and non-regulated urine specimen collections. The course teaches collectors how to protect specimen integrity, maintain donor privacy, follow proper collection procedures, complete accurate chain-of-custody documentation, and handle problem collections such as insufficient volume, suspected tampering, temperature issues, refusals, and donor non-cooperation.

Designed for new and experienced collectors, collection site staff, mobile collectors, clinics, TPAs, and drug testing service providers, the training emphasizes confidentiality, neutrality, quality assurance, defensible documentation, and consistent adherence to established procedures. Through instructional material and video demonstrations, participants gain the knowledge and confidence needed to perform accurate, professional urine collections in real-world testing environments, and upon successful completion of the course and final exam, receive a Certificate of Completion.

It also addresses common problem collections such as insufficient specimen volume, suspected tampering, temperature out of range, refusals, and donor failure to cooperate. Emphasis is placed on maintaining control of the specimen, preventing substitution or adulteration, documenting issues immediately, and following established procedures consistently.

This training is designed for new and existing collectors, collection site staff, mobile collectors, clinics, TPAs, and drug testing service providers who need a strong foundation in professional non-DOT urine specimen collection. The course reinforces best practices for confidentiality, neutrality, quality assurance, and defensible documentation, while preparing participants to perform collections accurately and confidently in real-world testing environments. The course is led from the perspective of experienced drug testing professionals with extensive background in specimen collections, collector training, compliance, and program operations.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of the Non-DOT Urine Collector Training Course, participants should be able to:

• Explain the role and responsibilities of a Non-DOT urine specimen collector, including the importance of professionalism, neutrality, confidentiality, and donor privacy.
• Perform a proper non-regulated urine specimen collection using consistent procedures that help protect specimen integrity and support a defensible testing process.
• Verify donor identity and maintain collection site security to reduce the risk of specimen substitution, adulteration, tampering, or procedural errors.
• Accurately complete chain-of-custody documentation and related collection records to ensure the specimen can be properly tracked from collection through laboratory testing.
• Identify and respond appropriately to problem collections, including insufficient specimen volume, out-of-range temperature, suspected tampering, refusals, and donor non-cooperation.
• Apply quality assurance practices during the collection process, including proper specimen handling, labeling, sealing, documentation review, and error prevention.
• Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality and privacy expectations when interacting with donors, employers, laboratories, TPAs, and other drug testing program stakeholders.
• Recognize common real-world collection scenarios and apply established procedures to complete collections professionally, consistently, and accurately.
